Introduction
It is God’s will for you to be in good health, mentally, physically, and emotionally. For me personally, the physical body is one of the most difficult areas to maintain. When I was in the world and prideful, it was easy to sustain bodily health. I was in the gym six days a week, abstained from sugar and greasy food, had muscles, and was physically fit, but emotionally and mentally a wreck. I had spiritual covenants of perversion that kept me conscious of being “sexy.” I took pride in the way I looked and who would look at me kept me motivated, but this motivation was impure. My body was not governed by the will of God. Later, I took a stand for Jesus, and the enemy turned up the heat, fighting hard to keep me from being physically whole. When you take a stand for God, the enemy will fight for territory in your body. The devil wants to use your body or kill you prematurely through not managing your health. I'm from Louisiana, where food is a big part of our culture and people take pride in our cooking! However, there's also a spiritual stronghold here that causes health issues, premature death, infirmities, and obesity. Today, our food contains bioengineered ingredients that harm our health and can even be fatal. There are also spiritual forces working against God's plan for us to live long, healthy lives. These evil powers attack us unless we are fortified in Christ Jesus. It's time to be proactive, discipline our bodies, and honor ourselves as living sacrifices. Sometimes we focus too much on the spiritual and neglect our physical health, but both are important. God wants you to live long and be physically fit for your calling and kingdom. Therefore, this devotional was written to build up your faith in what God says and promises about your health, so that you would be empowered to take the steps forward to make necessary changes.

Building Your Faith to Build Your Health

John 19:28–30 (AMP): 28 After this, Jesus, knowing that everything was now completed and in order to fulfill the Scripture, said, “I am thirsty.” [Ps. 69:21.] 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there, so they put a sponge soaked in the sour wine on a hyssop stalk and held it up to His mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” Then He bowed His head and released His spirit.

When Jesus declares, “It is finished,” this statement is both empowering and liberating for you. Through Jesus redemptive work we have access to the promise that God will restore your health and keep you healthy. Jesus’ finished work on the cross redeems you and addresses the burdens you carry, including those related to your health. This statement embodies the fulfillment of God’s plan for salvation, the atonement for sin, and provision for healing and restoration. In terms of health and suffering, this directly applies to your life, as Jesus has borne your illnesses and infirmities as part of His plan for your life. Do you believe it?

The struggles and challenges you face, including those related to your maintaining your health, have been addressed through Jesus’ sacrifice. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus has provided a way for you to experience not only spiritual salvation but also healing and restoration in other areas of your life. You now have access to a greater source of healing—Jesus. Trust that, in Jesus, there is provision for your needs, including the healing and strength of your physical body. By faith, allow the finished work on the cross to be a foundation for your faith in Jesus, affirming that your healing is already accomplished.

This devotional invites you to adopt a faith perspective that sees Jesus’ work on the cross declaring you victorious over your current bodily struggles and afflictions. Allow the finished work on the cross to be a foundation for your faith in Jesus, affirming that your healing is already accomplished. In your quiet moments, seek the Holy Spirit and ask Him to increase your faith in this truth. Embrace the assurance that you are healthy, healed, and whole. Let this understanding strengthen your heart and fortify your spirit, drawing you closer to the transformative power of Jesus’ sacrificial love.

Prayer Point

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and the completion of His redemptive work. Just as Jesus fulfilled all Scripture and declared “It is finished,” I pray for the completion of Your purpose in my life. Help me to fulfill every task and calling You have placed upon me. When I face trials and feel spiritual thirst, remind me of Jesus’ endurance and ultimate victory. Let His words “It is finished” resonate in my heart, assuring me of the finished work of salvation and the fulfillment of Your promises. Empower me to live a life that reflects the completion and victory of Christ, bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
